The design was for a perpetually expanding residence at the farm to accommodate the changing needs of the family using traditional materials and technologies to test out their relevance in today's context
The attempt was to design a house for a wide range of contemporary needs, by using traditional materials
technology, craftsmen and processes of construction and involve master craftsmen at all levels of decision making. To make a climatically comfortable building.

The recurrent theme of trees, water, courtyards and verandas became the common denominator in almost all spaces. An objective of minimising drawings and maximising the on-site decisions and inputs with the traditional builders was tested out successfully.
The client wanted a two bedroom farm residence unit, round in shape, from natural materials, as a weekend retreat, with basic modern necessities for relaxation and meditation. The architects attempted to design and build round units with modern amenities, from mud and thatch, using the traditional expertise and

craftsmanship of artisans and craftsmen from 'Banni' area of Kutch, Gujarat saving all the existing eucalyptus trees.
The earth for the sun-dried mud blocks for walls was dug up from the site itself. The thatch for roof was locally purchased & the highly
termite resistant Babul wood was used for doors and windows with carvings to visually dilute their inherent irregularities. The project demonstrates the success of combined efforts of traditional skills and contemporary designers' inputs
