Bhadli Village: Rehabilitation Plans

Occupation:
Bhadli village is a predominantly agricultural village with about 50% of the population engaged in cultivation of crops. However, due to the scarcity and salinity of ground water, and lack of a major market, handicrafts soon became the occupation of choice.

Damage sustained:
The earthquake destroyed 90% of the village. Nearly all the old houses, which constituted 75% of the village collapsed or developed major cracks. A major school was also destroyed and is no longer functional. The villagers have managed to recover 80%of their belongings from the rubble.
